12. Minnesota: Christian Ponder is, quite simply, the classic example of a quarterback who was overpicked in the first round, the way we'd heard so many of them would be. But the Vikings obviously figured they liked Locker and Ponder, and they couldn't trade down to gather currency in rounds two or three. So they sat at 12 and picked a developmental quarterback they felt they had to have.

There's no doubt the Vikings needed a quarterback after the lost season of 2010. The team was 28th league wide in average per pass attempt and No. 30 in team-wide passer rating. So there's nowhere to go but up. But Ponder does not appear to be the answer. His track record at Florida State was non-descript and he's quite a reach at the No. 12 overall pick, especially with guys like TCU's Andy Dalton still on the board -- a proven winner with better production. But desperate teams do desperate things, and that appears to be the case with Minnesota.

This pick is going to end up as bad, or worse, than Kahn taking Flynn at #6.

Oh and the Patriots take Ryan Mallett in the 3rd round with the pick that Chilly gave them for Randy Moss for 2 weeks. Could this draft have gone any worse? Vikings will be lucky to win 4 games next year.

I wonder if we can trade Ponder for Randy Moss?
