If I Did It...

Written by Derek Hanson on .

NOTE: This article was started yesterday.  By the time the final touches and proof-reading were done, a lot of new developments had taken place.  There’s an update at the end addressing the new information.

By now we’ve all heard the rumors: Kevin Garnett to the Celtics or KG to the Suns.  The Wolves’ front office keeps telling us that those trades are exactly just that: rumors.  They’ve told us that they’re willing to listen to offers for Garnett but haven’t seriously considered any of them.  They’ve told us they have no interest in trading KG.

Sorry, but I just don’t believe that’s true.

Despite a Major “Gigl-uh-oh!” Timberwolves Still Win in Double OT

Written by Derek Hanson on .

Tonight’s game versus the Lakers was the first time I had watched the Wolves in roughly four weeks.  Thankfully, they made it very entertaining for me.  As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been ridiculously busy and haven’t even had time to speed through the games on TiVo.  Hopefully things will stay calm the rest of the season so I can enjoy the Wolves final stretch.

Some observations on tonight’s game:

Minnesota Timberwolves: "The Void"

Written by Derek Hanson on .

Note: This article appears on The Timberwolves Den at DeROK.Net

I have always prided myself on being the biggest optimist when it comes to my Timberwolves.  But for the first time in my long history of following this team, I just don’t have anything good to say.

Top 5 KG Moments: 20 Points, 18 Rebounds, 12 Stitches

Written by Derek Hanson on .

With only five games remaining for the Timberwolves in the 2006-2007 season, there’s an outside chance that Minnesota fans may only have five more games to watch Kevin Garnett in a Wolves jersey. I’m not going to take the time right now to speculate or state my opinion on the subject matter. Ultimately, that decision is in the hands of Kevin McHale and The Big Ticket, himself. However, what I would like to do, just in case I really do have only five more games to root for my hero, is to recap some of my favorite KG moments. With five games left, the plan is to do a mini-countdown of these moments on each game day. Without further ado, here’s #5…

Top 5 KG Moments: The All-Star of All-Stars

Written by Derek Hanson on .

February 10th, 2003

As a Timberwolves fan in 2003, I was desperate for any accolades that my team could earn.  The franchise was 14 years old at that point, and its greatest acheivement was Isaiah Rider’s victory in the 1994 Slam Dunk Competition.  So with a championship really out of the question, my goals for the team were twofold:  1. Get out of the first round of the playoffs.  2. Have Kevin Garnett become the All-Star Game MVP.

Top 5 KG Moments: Game. Seven.

Written by Derek Hanson on .

May 20th, 2004

I don’t think that there’s any argument about what the greatest KG Moment is for Timberwolves fans.  In the vast history of this franchise, filled with disappointments and heartbreaks, this moment shines as one of the few where the Timberwolves nation experienced pure euphoria.

Timberwolves Season Wrap-up: "Before the Dawn"

Written by Derek Hanson on .

From The Minnesota Timberwolves Den at DeROK.Net:

It seems that the history of the Minnesota Timberwolves is destined to be defined by years.  It took the franchise seven years to earn its first playoff berth.  It took another eight before the Wolves would win a playoff series. And now the earth has spun around the sun three times since this team last played post-season basketball.
