Kevin Garnett Ejected by Refs, Ricky Davis Ejected by Poop

Written by Derek Hanson on .

I inexplicably forgot to TiVo last night’s game versus the Pistons.  While it probably did a lot of good for my blood pressure, that mishap cost me the thrill of a double-overtime game, a fight, and a first-hand look at what is undoubtedly the biggest Wolves’ drama since Latrell Sprewell’s “Feed the Children” campaign.

Timberwolves Fire Dwane Casey

Written by Derek Hanson on .

Typical.

The Timberwolves finally make the move that everyone’s been waiting a year for in firing Dwane Casey, and the national media are tearing them to shreds.  ESPN’s abuzz with questions of why the Timberwolves, a consensus pick for the lottery, would fire their coach when they’re at .500 and currently locked in for the 8th spot in the West.  These types of questions and arguments further cement the fact that the talking heads at ESPN are slightly lacking in the brain department.

Minnesota Timberwolves: So Close, but not So Far

Written by Derek Hanson on .

This article appears on www.derok.net/wolves.  I think it brings some perspective on the first half of the season with some interesting statistics.

After watching the Timberwolves squander a five point lead with a minute to go last night and lose their sixth consecutive game in a row, one thing was painfully clear:  The Wolves need some serious mental conditioning.

That's Right, It's Time to Call the Whaaaaaaambulance!

Written by Derek Hanson on .

There’s nothing quite like watching your team climb back from a fifteen-point deficit, only to have a terrible, terrible call ruin the whole thing.  It ranks right up there with Nickleback, root canals, and getting kicked in the no-no’s.  So needless to say, I’m not very happy at the moment.

Garnett Takes Another Spin in the Trade Machine

Written by Derek Hanson on .

You have absolutely no idea how badly I hate typing this.  But I honestly have no idea what else can be done to save this franchise from four or five years of complete mediocrity.  With the way the Wolves are currently playing, and the apparent lack of good attitudes, something drastic has to be done.

Minnesota Timberwolves Season In Review: All-Star Edition

Written by Derek Hanson on .

As many of you have probably noticed, there’s been a severe lack of posts on TWolvesBlog.com lately.  Our forum is still buzzing, but I’ve done an awful job at keeping up with my front page duties.  In all honesty, the lack of headlines has a lot more to do with my busy school schedule than it does with me neglecting to write them.

Grumblings of a Wolves Fan

Written by Derek Hanson on .

I’ll take a cue from College Wolf’s “Musings of a Wolves Fan” and call this post my “Grumblings”.  Because after ten straight days of having to wake up at the crack of dawn to go to school and lots of studying and late nights “on call”, I’m a little bit cranky and definitely very, very tired.

Kevin McHale - Best GM in Sports?

Written by Derek Hanson on .

Well, it turns out the Timberwolves will get a first place finish in something after all…

Forbes.com recently ranked the general managers in the four major sports to determine who’s the best. And to the shock of many Timberwolves fans who have been calling for his head the past three years, our very own Kevin McHale was ranked #1.

Kevin Garnett for Head Coach

“We can’t keep depending on our coaches to make decisions. “We’ve got to use our IQs and our basketball knowledge to figure things out and maybe call timeouts and maybe go to a zone.” - Kevin Garnett

Timberwolves Countdown #4 - "All or Nothing"

Written by Derek Hanson on .

It is unquestionably the biggest game in Timberwolves history: Game 7 versus the Kings in the 2004 playoffs.  Although KG’s performance that night is now a source of legend in the Twin Cities, the days leading up to that game were characterized by many questioning Kevin Garnett’s manhood, toughness, and ability to win. My preview of that career-defining game is #4 of 10 of my favorite Timberwolves articles.
