***BREAKING NEWS: Brandon Roy to have knee surgery
Written by College Wolf on .

Breaking news on the latest with Brandon Roy's knee, and it's not good folks:
"Brandon Roy will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week, the seventh knee surgery of his career. Roy fatefully banged his knee in the Wolves' final preseason game, which led to ongoing soreness and caused him to miss the past four games. His upcoming surgery is another sad if predictable chapter in his NBA career, and could very well signal the end of his season, if not his career."
Soooooo, yeah. Pretty much turns out he was a failure signing. It was nice to see him try to get back on the court and all, but it does appear that he's done-for. Little wonder not many other teams were trying to sign him last off-season, and certainly not lining up to pay him the $5 million per year Kahn offered.
Bummer, especially as the Wolves are just insanely decimated by injuries.
OMG, I was really rooting for the guy to make a comeback too. You can tell that he should have stayed retired at the beginning of the season. And with chase Buddinger gone, who will take the helm at SG?
@slapdoghoops I think you will see Malcolm Lee continue to start. Maybe Howard moves into the lineup at the 2 eventually. Despite SHVED's emergence, I think Rick likes him off the bench. Then again, I also predicted Lee wouldn't play a game for the Wolves the entire season so my opinion is about as credible as David Kahn's on draft night.
@WallyWorld I agree, Shved's not ready. he's too slight build. he'll get blown away by a slight breeze he's so frail.
Team update: diagnostic will occur today and he will be out a couple of weeks. Call me crazy, but I would be shocked if we have seen the last of Roy
If the player played fewer than 10 games1 that season, 60 days after his last game, or the one-year anniversary of his last game in the previous season, whichever is later.

The way things are going that could come into play for the Wolves.
@Pants80 Is this about an injury exception? Yes if he retires or misses the season we would definitely get one. Half his salary. We could sign Pietrus then, or Lazar Hayward if he will take such chump change.
@Pants80 Yeah, I don't think that applies. Hoopshype doesn't show us as having an option for his 2nd year:

Anyone know?
@CollegeWolf @Pants80 Pretty sure we do. Hoopshype is known for being inaccurate at times.
On a plus side Roy may still have a better season than Andrew Bynum in Philly based off his 4 games of playing. Still like the signing. It was a risk going in and it didn't pay off, which is a bummer.
@Pants80 Cant put the cart before the horse yet. He is just having an arthoscopy which is just putting a small camera in his knee to check things out. No repairing or operating. Just a diagnostic procedure with minimal recovery time. So, until the surgery is done this week, we can only speculate.
Can you hear the desperation in my post?? haha
Well at least we have that opt out clause in the contract. More money to re-sign Pek
