Kevin Love is an All Star
Written by Pants on .
According to NBA.com Kevin Love will replace Yao Ming as an NBA All Star. He'll be the first Wolf since KG to represent for the Wolves. Here's to hoping he gets in on the 3 Point Challenge action.

@LFJeremy Not the biggest KLove fan here myself, but I definitely concur with Mr. Hicks.
I'm sorry, but Kevin Love does not deserve to be an All Star. He is only a good player on a bad team and a reason he gets so many boards is because his teamates could not make a jumper to save their lives. He also only cares on getting his precious double doubles than actually winning the game. He has been quoted saying that his primary goal is to take the rebounding crown. He's a stat concious ego-maniac--the White Wilt Chamberlain who would put his own personal agenda over winning. They're other player that deserve being an all star. one is LaMarcus Aldridge, who has basically carried his Portland Trailblazers to a 26-24 record. Another more deserving player is Paul Milsap of the Jazz who is having a career year posting 18 points and 9 boards a game. hell, even david West of the Hornets deserves an Allstar nod of Kevin Love.
@slapdoghoops I think you are entitled to your take on whether he deserves the berth, and the debate of wins vs stats will never end or be decided, so I respect your take.
BUT It's the made up stories about his "ego mania and stat mongering" or whatever people say. It is entirely fabricated. It happens on our site from Wolves fans too and drives me up the wall.
What about the fact that Love is averaging top 5 in win shares in the entire league? Blaming Love for the Wolves losses is so far beyond the realm of discussion. HIs teammates are the problem here. Read this excellent piece http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/03/keeping-score-kevin-loves-rare-combination-of-talents/ and now tell me that Love sacrafices wins. He is the only player on the Wolves roster CREATING wins for the team...responsible for 8 of 11 individually! Top 5 in the league..ahead of Wade, Pierce, Rose and Kobe. 2 words: supporting cast.
@WallyWorld U know what wally, you are right. They're those who are motived by indivdual achievement, but not at the expense of his own team. In addition, should they be recognized or honored for doing that also? There are much more deserving people whose stats actually help their team more than just looking good in a box score.
@slapdoghoops But do come back! Sorry, dont mean to overreact, I just grow tired of fabricated hyperbole as far as Love is concerned.
@slapdoghoops Oh my god. You (and CW for that matter) have completely fabricated the ego maniac stat whore idea in your heads. It is completely made up, or ay least exaggerated heavily. Second of all, what human being in this world is not motivated somewhat by individual achievement!? Especially some of the most competetive blood in the world? You have to be naive, stupid, or both to honestly fault a guy or wanting to get a rebounding crown or wanting to succeed on an individual basis, and then imply or allude to the idea that said achievements surpass winning. Simply silly talk. If stats stats stats were the whole shebang, Love would stay here his whole career.would have signed an extension already.
Whats next? "I cant believe Love was smiling during an interview about his AS selection after a tough loss on the road!" Get real.
@slapdoghoops Man... I dunno about all that. I argued in our forums that I didn't really think Love should make it, but that's just because I was saying Blake Superior should make it in instead. I think Love or LMA are the best alternatives. Maybe Odom too, but I think Love is more deserving. Look, I know Love sucks at defense and I say it all the time, and I also say he's a "Stat Whore" (because he is)... but he is at least *deserving* of making the AS game. His stats are historic, and he hits 3s (Top 10 percentage in the league!) Basically, in my opinion the only guys in the discussion of making it as the replacement were Love and LMA. And then the next tier is probably Odom and Nash.
Well he certainly has the historic stats to back it up, but too bad we aren't winning any games. Oh well, he probably deserved it... at least, moreso than Duncan for sure. Congrats are in order for KLove!
