Kevin Garnett: Fly

Written by Derek Hanson on .

Note: As a result of my incredibly hectic schedule, I'm just getting around to my season preview for Kevin Garnett and the Celtics. However, you can rest assured that these predictions are legit as they're the exact same ones I made when I did the Wolves season preview.  Also, this article is from the new "Kevin Garnett and The Boston Celtics" section at DeROK.Net

"Kevin Garnett, who crawled through a river of **** and came out clean on the other side. Kevin Garnett, headed for Boston. Those of us who knew him best talk about him often. I swear, the stuff he pulled. Sometimes it makes me sad, though, Kevin being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright and when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice, but still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend."

My favorite player. My favorite movie. For some reason Kevin Garnett and The Shawshank Redemption's Andy Dufrense have always seemed connected to me. They were two innocent men who found themselves trapped in a prison. And despite the impossible circumstances they faced, they never gave up hope. In Andy's case, it only takes two and a half hours of film for him to burrow through a wall and make his escape. In the real-life tragedy of Kevin Garnett, it took twelve painful years before he was finally sprung free.

First Peek at the New Celtics

First Peek at the New Celtics

***The following article was authored by another valued forum member, "Bonk."  Bonk also happens to be my Wolves season tickets partner in crime, as well as general sports viewing buddy.  Kinda like Bill Simmons and his buddies "Johnny" and/or "Hench," except not nearly as homoerotic.

I am a bonafide KG pimp, a diehard KG fanatic, a loyal & faithful KG follower.  However you want to put it, I love KG.  So when “the trade” went down, it is only right and natural that my allegiances follow him to Boston.  It also helps that I am a longtime Paul Pierce and Boston follower from afar.  I already have my Celtics hat, jersey, & Truth jersey from the “old” Celtics days of the last several years.  How cool is it that my favorite player ever got traded to my 2nd favorite team, which already included my 2nd favorite player?  I am more than ready for this season to begin, and have to share my thoughts on my first look at my NEW favorite team.  Sorry Minnesota, but I’m KG first, Timberwolves second.  Without further procrastination, here are my thoughts on the London game, from a C’s perspective...

The KG Trade: A Wild 48 Hours

Written by Anthony Hall on .

It all happened so fast...one day in late July, rumors began popping up on blogs and message boards, stating that the KG-to-Boston deal had been revived.  Roughly 48 hours later, Kevin Garnett officially became a Celtic.  Here's a timeline of this wild two-day period:

Garnett Working Hard For His New Team

Written by Anthony Hall on .

The Boston Globe recently reported that their are 20 players working out in Vegas under the Abunassar Impact Basketball system. Out of those 20 players, Garnett is reportedly working out earlier and later than everyone else every day. This does not come as a shock to those of us who have been long time KG fans. What is a surprise is the extent to which Garnett is taking this. "The 6-foot-11-inch, 253-pounder also sprinted while pulling a man with a resistance cable. After the drill, a sweat-drenched Garnett made the majority of his free throws while pumping himself up." the Globe reported.

Interesting, that the individual who always pushed harder and worked harder than anyone else is working and pushing harder now that he is on a competitive team.

Our Tribute to Kevin Garnett

Written by Derek Hanson on .

What can I say? I’m absolutely devastated at the loss of Kevin Garnett. No amount of draft picks, “potential”, or even NBA Championships will ever make up for what Wolves fans just lost. Kevin Garnett was the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now that he’s gone, our franchise has lost its identity. Where the Wolves go from here, I have no idea. But I do know that our franchise has just seen its second darkest day. Only the death of Malik Sealy has hurt more. no comments
